Neuss Partnership
Neuss, located across from Düsseldorf along the Rhine River, is St. Paul’s German Sister City. A beautiful, quaint city with a rich Roman history, Neuss is also the headquarters of 3M Germany.
Since February 1, 2008 the GAI has been home of the St. Paul-Neuss Sister City Partnership. The partnership had previously lacked a central address and contact organization in St. Paul. The GAI now helps fulfill that role, serving as a distribution center for information about the partnership, as well as helping the volunteer Partnership Oversight Committee make connections in the local German community and welcome our friends from Neuss.
The partnership has been in existence since 1999, finding its roots in the then emerging European Economic and Monetary Union (EU). It was recognized that the EU would have a significant impact on the way Minnesota, and more specifically Saint Paul, does business with Europe, and that the key to better understanding, and working with the European Union, was at the local level between cities.

The success of this relationship continues to strengthen through the volunteer efforts of many dedicated committee members. Tangible results of exchanges in the areas of commerce, education and culture help this partnership continue to thrive.
