Kinderstube is the German language immersion preschool of the Germanic-American Institute, a Minnesota non-profit organization.
Kinderstube is a fully licensed program by the state of Minnesota for children ages 3- 5. We operate Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm with half day, full-day, and extended care options. Kinderstube has two locations:
- Mayflower Church, 106 East Diamond Lake Road, Minneapolis
- Germanic-American Institute, 301 Summit Avenue, St. Paul
Familienfest 2010

at family-friendly prices
In celebration of Schulanfang (beginning of school) the GAI will host our annual Familienfest on Sunday, August 22. This relaxed afternoon on the GAI lawn features picnic-style food at family-friendly prices, interactive family games and entertainment. There will also be a special ceremony to honor those children beginning their first year of school. Kinderstube will also host an open house with crafts and activities in their classroom.
The Society for Creative Anachronism, an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe, will be participating this year providing heraldry, period games, textile arts, and Medieval combat demonstrations. Performers will be in costume, and have answers to questions regarding history and they will build period-accurate tents, a “medieval encampment”.
Kinderstube Summer Program
Kinderstube will operate an 11-week summer program from June 14-August 27 at both the St. Paul and Minneapolis sites. The daily program will be from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with both full day and half day options. There will also be evening extended care at the Minneapolis site until 5:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays, and until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Kinderstube will be closed from August 30 - September 6.
Kinderstube Now Enrolling for Fall 2010
Kinderstube is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year which begins September 7. Kinderstube offers affordable half-day and full-days options with flexible scheduling. All registration materials can be found on the website under the Enrollment tab.
