Lederhosenlauf 5k Run - 10th Anniversary & 1st GAI Fahrradtour -17 Mile Ride
Lederhosenlauf 5k - Saturday, June 10 at 8:10am
At Deutsche Tage, we love to celebrate our love of the outdoors as well as sporting good-fun. That's why in 2007 we forged a partnership with Charities Challenge to create the Lederhosenlauf - a 5k fun-run where you can run in your Lederhosen or Dirndl as a kick-off to the first day of Deutsche Tage. This year we raise a glass and celebrate 10 years promoting intercultural understanding through Sport und Bier!
Race-day registration begins on Saturday morning at the Germanic-American Institute at 6:45am and closes at 7:55am. Line-up is at 8am with a 8:10am start. The course is a USATF-certified route down Selby Avenue through the beautiful Cathedral Hill area with chipped time results for different divisions. All runners receive a complimentary meal and beverage at the end of the race.
For junior runners, there is a 1-Mile Kids Fun Run, which starts at 9:20am.
All questions regarding Lederhosenlauf registration and the race day can be directed to Gary Westland at Charities Challenge.
GAI Fahrradtour - Saturday, June 10 at 9:30am
To expand and continue our Sport und Bier festivities, the GAI is organizing our first Fahrradtour - 17 Mile Bike Ride at Deutsche Tage. Bicyclists will gather in the Biergarten on the GAI Lawn at 9am and the ride begins 9:30am. The ride is a guided route, on open roads. Those who complete the Fahrradtour get their first beer (or non-alcoholic beverage) for free. Plus, all bicyclists enjoy $5 beer 10am-4pm on Saturday as part of our Bicyclists’ Biergarten which celebrates environmentally friendly transportation. Show your helmet/bike gear at the bar to get your discount.
Register for both the Lederhosenlauf and the Fahrradtour to make your own personal Duathlon!
